Dr.Ganesananthan Discussion with members of the Elders Empowerment

Dr.Ganeshananthan, physiotherapist was invited to talk to us about aging and related problems with our bones and joints. He explained this with the use of skeleton, so that we all could understand very easily. It was a very interesting and educational talk. He told us what to do and what not to do when you have problems. The talk was so interesting, the members wanted him to come back again and give us the talk. |
Bring & Buy sale day

April 22nd 2018 Muthiyor Illam in Batticaloa celebrated the New Year in a grant scale. This illam runs with the help of EEP under CCD projects. It was a great success. Everybody had a great time. |

12th anniversary of EEP

On 19.04.2018 at the 12th anniversary of the EEP the venerable Mayor of Kingston attended the ceremony with his wife James Pickering. There were other associates as well. At the end of the session we did Guna & Krishna dance and group dance. This was greatly welcomed by all. Overall this is a great function. |

Celebrated the pongal festival

EEP celebrated the PONGAL festival on 15th of January 2018. The altar was decorated by Priya Lohendran with the help of members. After one minute silence, the poojai was conducted by Priya . 'Thai Pongal is no excuse from Quinton's exercise' said Vasanthan. Natchinthannai about Pongal was followed by exercise. Mothagam,vadai, chippi, and pongal were served during coffee break. It was a treat for the members - certainly reminded us our Pongal sweets in Illangai. Fill in the Proverbs - done by Priya followed by Thiru's yoga demonstration. All the members including men got involved with his 'Kummi' demonstration. All in all, it was a wonderful day. Thanks Priya. |
Celebrated the Christmas

21.12.2017 at Elders Empowerment Programme - That was the last day for the year 2017, we celebrated Christmas. Mrs Saro Kurunathan compered the meeting. The day started with one minute silence and Quintin Parker did the Christmas keep fit. Mr Alalasundaram gave the introduction and introduced Father RAJAN TO GIVE THE CHRISTMAS MESSAGE. EEP members joined the carol singers after the christmas message. Vasanthi Alalasundaram supervised the pass the parcel. Members enjoyed it very much. Finally we had lovely food to finish the day and everybody said good bye to year 2017. |
Tamil Information Centre (CCD) organised a Human Rights conference

Tamil Information Centre (CCD) organised a Human Rights conferance on 10th of December 2017 at Thomas Wall centre , Sutton. Few ladies from EEP performed a dance along with other nationalities like Indonesian and Bali. Thiru gave a lovely solo performance. At the end of the conferance, he called everybody to do a group dance for a music. It wasn't practiced. The conferance ended with music and dance. |
Dr. Nandapalan GB gave us a talk about heart attack

7th of Decmber 2017 the day started with Thevaram and exercise. We had Dr Nandabalan G.P gave us a talk on Heart Attack.First he explained the anatomy of the heart,then why we get heart attack and how we can try and avoid with good diet. Then he answered the questions from the members. It was a very useful talk from the doctor. |

23rd of November 2017, the day started with one minute silence, Thevaram and Exercise. Some candles were lit to mark the 'Maaveerar thinam' on that day. EEP members gave a feed back of the MIndfulness course. They were as follows, it gave a peace of mind, relief of stress, relaxes the mind, reduces the tension, allows one to empty the mind, on the spot relief and finally recharges the brain. All the comments were positive. Phillipa Leary - Development Worker/KingstonHealth Co Ordinator, Super Highways/Kingston voluntary action was presenting Digital Health Navigator Training. In that session she reviewed health information available from the NHS choice websites like videos, health recipes as well as as common health questions. She was showing a quick tour of the on line directories which can help us find the health support, suggested few apps we can download to help us live a healthy life. |
Final day of Mindfulness course

16th of November 2017 was the final day of 8 week course of Mindfulness done by Ms Sushila rajah MA.MIMgt.AIPD. There was long meditation on that day and certificates were given to those who attended. The course was very useful and enjoyed by all. Bouquet of flowers was given to Sushila to thank her for a lovely course. |

9th of November 2017 - After the one minute silence and Thevaram, members did Quintin's exercise, which is always one of the favourite items for our members. Ms Sushila Rajah MA. MIMgt. AIPD facilitated the Mindfulness course. It is an excellant course and the members are thoroughly enjoying it. Hopefully we will all follow what she taught us. Dr Thiagarajah, who was the chairman of EEP celebrated his birthday with the EEP members and he gave us a lovely lunch. As Vasanthan said he is one of the few behind the success of EEP. |
EEP project in Batticola in five village

26th of October- The day started with one minute silence and Thevaram. It followed by the Mindfulness course, which is going to be running for 8weeks, conducted by Ms sushila Rajah MA.MIMgt. AIPD(2). The course deals with the wandering mind and teaches the Mindulness. she is teaching lots of different meditation like Breath meditation, Body scan meditation, mindfulness walking meditation, Breath meditation, mountain meditation, loving kindess meditation. Meditation helps us to calm our mind and focus on what we are doing. It is a worth while course and we are lucky to have Ms Sushila Rajah to help us find a way to be in peace. Mr Varadakumar showed us a power point presentation about the Exhibition held at Chenkalady on 1/10/2017to celebrate the lives of our elders & to showcase their achievements in the social, cultural and economical life( EEP project in Batticola in 5 villages) |

Poosai and Thevaram followed by lunch given by Mrs Kamala Kulaveerasingam, who celebrated her 85th Birthday with the members. We had the exercise with Quinton as usual. |
